There are so many events going on in Greensboro's Downtown in December. Just one of the many festivals and entertainment in Downtown Greensboro is the Festival of Lights this Friday, December 2, 2011. Here is some of the free events to expect as you gather with the Triad community during the holidays.
- Musical Stroll along Elm Street, 6pm-9pm
There will be a lot of festive fun happening along Elm Street from Center City Park south across the tracks to Bain Street. It will be a great chance to visit with Santa as well as visit multiple shops, art galleries, and some of the best restaurants in Greensboro, NC. You will be able to enjoy live music from entertainers like Joshua West, High Lonesome Strings Bluegrass, and Greensboro Tarheel Chorus.
- Winter Wonderland, 6pm-9pm
Discover the magic of the season near Hamburger Square Park at McGee and South Elm streets. Children will be able to get their picture taken with Santa and be entertained with Magic by Noah and the Pentecostal Puppet Team. There will also be music and marshmallow roasting provided by Grassroots Productions Limited. - Hot Hot Holidays, 6pm-9pm
At Elm and Lewis streets up to the tracks, join the community to dance to tropical music provided by 107.5 KZL. There will be a prize wheel and a fun holiday photo booth. - Community Tree Lighting, 5:45pm-9pm
Located at Center City Park at North Elm and Friendly Avenue, there will be a community sing-along and tree lighting event. The Community Tree Lighting will take place at 7:30pm. Other activities include holiday crafts and entertainment by Tyca the Clown.
Along with all the special holiday events, there will also be self-guided tours of Downtown as part of Greensboro's First Friday event. A Indie Craft Market will also be set up along South Elm and MLK from 4pm t0 9pm with handmade goods.
