First Friday in downtown Greensboro is a great chance to discover the local cultural community and support local shops, restaurants, and other businesses. The next First Friday event will be January 6, 2012, from 6pm to 9pm. The event is sponsored by Downtown Greensboro Inc. and the United Arts Council of Greater Greensboro. Ambleside Gallery located at 528 South Elm Street is a First Friday participant and will host the oil paintings and pastels of Leigh Rodenbou
gh on January 6. There will be piano music at Ambleside Gallery by musician/composer Maurice Horne as well as refreshments. Another First Friday participant, the International Civil Rights Center & Museum located at 134 South Elm Street, will host the Piedmont Swing Dance Society. You will be able to learn classics like the Jitterbug, Lindy Hop, and Shag dance moves. At the International Civil Rights Center & Museum, the best dressed couple in period attire will win a prize!
Other participants in the First Friday event include Greensboro Cultural Center, Green Hill Center for NC Art, Jules Antiques and Fine Art, Center for Visual Artists, and many more. Not only will you be able to explore local artwork, but also taste some of the best restaurants in Greensboro, NC.
