renovations” width=”300″ height=”468″ />Construction for the new polar bear
exhibit is underway at the NC Zoo. Fall 2012 marks the beginning of the two year schedule to rebuild the polar bear exhibit to make it the best polar bear exhibit in any American Zoo.
The new polar bear exhibit plans will bring an enlarged space that will include extra room for more polar bears and even breeding grounds. The future of the polar bear exhibit is expected to accommodate up to six polar bears when complete. The renovation is even set-up to prepare for baby polar bears. The new polar bear exhibit will include a maternity den along with a holding area for the baby polar bears and their mamas.
Designers have even included extra viewing spaces for visitors. This is extra important since the NC Zoo has high hopes that the $7.8 million dollar renovations will create a platform to deliver the message of how the polar bears made the endangered species list. Even more so, the NC Zoo hopes to educate the many visitors on how they can help ease the polar bears plight in the wild.
The two male polar bears, Aquile and Wilhelm, have much to look forward to on their return to the NC Zoo located on Zoo Parkway in Asheboro, just 49 minutes from Ashford Suites High Point. In the meantime, be sure to visit the NC Zoo to stay-up -to date on all the polar bear exhibit renovation news.
